Founded in 2017 in New York City, New Manhattan Sinfonietta bridges continents and generations through the universal language of orchestral music. Under the baton of world-renowned conductor Gürer Aykal, the orchestra unites Turkish and international masterpieces, bringing them to life in the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic cultural capitals. With its distinctive artistic vision, New Manhattan Sinfonietta continues to build a musical bridge between Türkiye and the global stage.

Who Is Gurer Aykal?

Gürer Aykal, the founder, music director, and principal conductor of the New Manhattan Sinfonietta Orchestra, is one of Türkiye’s most distinguished and influential maestros. A graduate of the Ankara State Conservatoire, he studied violin with Necdet Remzi Atak and composition with Adnan Saygun, one of the pioneers of Turkish classical music, shaping his artistic foundation with both discipline and lyricism.
He has led orchestras around the world, bringing a refined sense of musical architecture to every performance. His artistic vision and leadership continue to define the New Manhattan Sinfonietta’s distinctive fusion of the western symphonic tradition and the rich musical heritage of the East, creating programs that bridge cultures, expand audiences, and inspire new generations of musicians.
